So, there I was, in the living room, blog hopping on my laptop. Then I heard my dad clearing his throat?! Like I said in my previous post, he's not coming this year. Gilt laa akeed I'm imaging his voice. Then I see a head in the corner of my eye, I look up willa it IS him!! Min il9adma I just kept saying WHAT?! WHAAAT?! Chan agoom alimma and kiss him bas lail7een mu mistaw3iba ilwath3 LOL

Earlier that day, he called and said "James sa2alni shino abi 7ag il3asha ilyowm chan agoola abi picatta (what we usually order in "our" restaurant here in town). Gimt min ilnowm wana 7adi mishtiheeha. Roo7aw iklooha 3ind il3ayooza (what we call said restaurant) o 9awrooli ilpicatta o 7irooni." Hehe kisar kha6ri because I knew he really wants to be here! Wila athari ilakh dag to tell my mum what time he'll be here and stuff!

A couple of hours before he arrived, my gran called.

"Hala bnayti shlonkum? Garrat 3ainkum! Ha mita wi9al obooch?"

Wana I'm like "Ha? Umm hehe..ohwa mu hnee! Gal mara7 iyee halsina?"

Animal Care's Grooming Services

So I called them up a couple of days ago and made an appointment for my cat. I got a call this morning to say that they'll be there in half an hour.

Our cat scares really easily. She's afraid of the stepping one foot out of the gate, she's afraid of cars and she runs away from new people! So today wasn't exactly fun for her! She needs a a hair cut though because she'll start boiling if she's in the garden or sat in front of the window within a minute.

Before:

After:

She looks like a different cat! Right now I'm a bit depressed that she's not as cute as before LOL but common sense will kick in a bit because short hair is better for her in this heat!

Their grooming is more expensive than IVH's in Mina Abdullah (and I thought that was expensive). But I'd rather pay more and have them come to my house than spend 80 minutes driving to and from IVH! I love the IVH staff and doctors but I think we'll just take the cat there for check-ups and medical-related stuff only! Animal Care's got my vote for grooming.

Kuwait's first female MPs!

I am so beyond elated right now!!

Soooo proud of everyone who made the right choice yesterday!! If only we had known that these are the results that we would get when only half the people vote, right? To those who didn't vote, malat 3alaikum! You have let your country down big time. Bas you know what? Thank God that there are still people who have not given up on their country. Thank God that there are still people who went and voted for the right people and didn't think "why should I bother? they won't win anyway". Thank fucking God! To those who have lost hope about ilwath3 ilsiyasi in the last few years: maybe what happened yesterday is what's going to make you be more optimistic about what what we can really do for our country instead of letting ilmutakhalifeen run it!

First Obama and now this! Politically-wise, '09 has got awesome written all over it!

We all went to congratulate Aseel @3am min ilfar7a. I'm so incredibly proud of her, it's ridiculous!

9ali7 ilmulla came by to congratulate her too!

Birthday Parties - Then and Now

6ab3an then as in mid 80s to mid 90s.

Then:

1- birthday boy/girl's dad is there min bidayat il3eedmeelad until the very end

2- all the kids' mums are there. the party is just as much fun for them as it is for their kids.

3- the nannies are all standing near the door. not involved in the party at all but there should someone need their help.

4- conga line, musical chairs the chicken dance and fin6as/fnai6ees or bar/ba7ar were more than enough to entertain us.

5- 95% of the food was homemade.

6- when the person organizing the party tells us to shut up, we shut up!

7- balloons and banners were the only decorations needed.

8- party favours were cheap and we didn't care.

9- we didn't care when we lost in a game. we got over it!

10- the venue was either the basement, garden, wendy's/Arby's/KFC.

Now:

1- birthday boy/girl's dad may make an appearance towards the end.

2- the only mums there are the bday kid's mum and some of her/his aunts.

3- there are more nannies than kids.

4- parents hire magicians, mani/pedi stands, performers from the circus, bouncey castles, etc and some kids are still bored.

5- homemade food is not cool. 8 year olds are now demanding food from maki or wasabi.

6- kids don't know what shut up means!

7- banners are so '80s. laser light shows are where it's at.

8- party favours have to be expensive (some parents also include money!!) so the kid doesn't get teased at school.

9- kids pull the mother of all strops if they lose.

10- if it's not in champions, giggles, ilshi3ib or a fancy hotel it's not cool.
